The Director Prof. (Dr.) Urvashi Makkar inaugurated the One Day online workshop “Python Foundations for Finance” on December 25, 2020. She expressed satisfaction seeing the commitment shown by the students and reiterated the importance of acquiring cutting edge skills in one’s domain. She also pointed out that the workshop coincided with the birth anniversary of the great statesman and poet Late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee and shared a few lines from his inspirational work “Haar Nahi Manunga” to motivate the students. Prof.(Dr.) Tapan K Nayak, Dean-Academics also wished the participants good luck.

The trainer Mr. Shankar MM from CARES, Bangalore eased the participants into Python programming with basics of Data Structures, Functions, Loops on Jupyter notebook. Further, he illustrated how to wrangle, process and visualize financial data in Python. He particularly focused on the libraries Numpy, Pandas, NSEPy, datetime etc.

The entire workshop was conducted hands-on mode. At the end, a Vote of Thanks was proposed by Ms Priya Baghel, student participant. Mr. Pranav Shahi, student participant in particular and all other participants contributed to the success of the workshop.

The workshop was organized and moderated by Prof. Pankaj K Agarwal, CFA, Professor of Finance. Prof. Neeraj Sanghi, Dr. Abhinav Tripathi also graced the inaugural ceremony to motivate the students.
