Special Seminar on “Commodity Awareness Programme” held on September 10, 2019 at IMS Ghaziabad,

Under the auspices of “Special Seminar Series 2019”, a seminal lecture was organized at IMS Ghaziabad on September 10, 2019 for the benefits of IMSians..Mr. Vinit Singh Kaler, a seasoned trainer with MCX Mumbai was the Guest of Honour. He was welcomed by Prof. Alok Pandey, Director IMS Ghaziabad.

In his inaugural address, Prof. Pandey drew attention on the importance of MCX which has crossed a turnover of INR 65 lakh crore and going high further. In his address to the students he asked “why do we need trading in commodity?”In his opinion everyone should understand asset classes like equity, debt instruments, commodity, currency, real estate etc. Prof. Pandey also emphasized that IMS Ghaziabad has signed MOU with MCX for knowledge sharing and research purpose and the present seminar was the outcome of that initiative.

Mr. Vinit Singh Kaler, who is a seasoned trainer with enriched corporate experience, introduced the audience with the historical development of the MCX in India and drew attention on Derivatives and Commodity Markets. In his view risks are associated with every asset class and it can be minimized in commodity market through commodity derivatives.. There are 20-25 commodities in the MCX ranging from Agri products to bullion, energy, and metals. He also highlighted that MCX has over INR 80,000 crore of turnover per day and also MCX boasts of over 40 lakh user terminals across the country. In the end he also talked about ‘Dos and Don’t for the new entrants in the commodity market. After the lecture , “Question & Answer session” took place followed by “Vote of Thanks” to the distinguished guests.

IMS Ghaziabad organized a Special Session on Thomsan & Reuters EIKON Data Base on 09.09. 2019. The session, under the patronage of Prof. Alok Pandey, Director IMS Ghaziabad, had two fold objectives- first, to make students of Management aware of the various database resources available in the IMS library for increasing the knowledge and employ-ability of students and secondly, to provide IMSians an opportunity to have an open house session through “Question & Answer Session” on the uses and applications of Thomsan & Reuters EIKON Data Base.

Special Seminar on “Financial Literacy & Its Role in Employability”
held on August 23, 2019

Under the auspices of “Special Seminar Series 2019”, a seminal lecture was organized at IMS Ghaziabad on August 23, 2019. The ‘Chief Guest’ was Mr. Abhishek Dave, Chief Manager, NSE Academy and while Mr. Karan Kapoor, Dy. Manager, NSE Academy was the ‘Guest of Honour’. The Director of IMS Ghaziabad Prof. Alok Pandey and Dean- Academics Dr. Tapan Kumar Nayak welcomed the ‘Distinguished Guests” with the Good Luck plants and mementos as token of gratitude.
In his inaugural address, Prof. Pandey recalled the earlier global financial crises occurred in 1930s and 1989 in the world and their impact on global economy .He also drew attention on the role of SEBI in safeguarding India’s economy. In his view National Stock Exchange (NSE) which is having nearly 2000 listed companies account for 90% of the total transactions since its inception in 1994, whereas BSE accounts for merely 20% of it. Mr. Karan Kapoor drew attention on the evolution of modern stock exchange in India and role of technology in making India one of the fastest Stock Exchange in the world. Mr. Abhishek Dave highlighted modern investment avenues and their growth prospects to a common investor. The session was followed by Question & Answer session where queries were raised by the students. The convenor of the programme, Dr. S. K. Dube, expressed “vote of Thanks” to the Guests and audience.

Special Seminar on “Energy Management, Environment & Sustainable Use of Natural Resources”, August 21, 2019

Under the auspices of “Special Seminar Series 2019”, a seminal lecture was organized at IMS Ghaziabad on August 21, 2019. Mr. K. K. Mahajan, a retired Engineer with enriched corporate experience and sr. consultant to PCRA, Ministry of Commerce, was the Chief Guest. It was the 27th Special Seminar in a row since its inception and first for current session. In his inaugural speech, Prof. Alok Pandey, Director IMS Ghaziabad highlighted the problems world facing today because of ongoing ‘Climatic Changes” globally.

Mr. Mahajan, drew attention of the audience on energy crisis, energy conservation, fossil fuels, Non- conventional Energy resources, Green energy and how entire environment is getting affected due to burning of fossil fuels, leading to global warming. The ecosystem seems to be disrupted because of this and world is witnessing erratic behaviour of the climate. Vanishing glaciers, ice melting, Forest fire, rising sea levels and landslides are some of the glaring examples of it. Video clips were shown to encourage saving energy and fuels.

The lecture was followed by ‘Question and Answer’ session. The convenor of the programme, Dr. S. K. Dube, expressed “vote of Thanks” to the Guests and audience.

Director Dr. Alok Pandey addressed the gathering and gave information on popular techniques for water management such as Water harvesting, Rain Water harvesting, Groundwater harvesting, Drip irrigation.

In addition he exhorted the students together with Water-wise habits, such as utilizing smaller quantity of water for washing clothes, fixing leaky taps. Keeping the tap closed while brushing, using bucket for bathing instead of shower etc. Dr. Anchal Mishra showed few videos on water management techniques to the audience.

The program was inaugurated by eminent guests from Corporate and Academia – Dr. Ishan Ranjan (Vice President Client Delivery) IBM Partner, Mr. Somnath Mitra – Digital Transformation Leader and Dr. Hemlata, Core Faculty and Area Chair, Business Analytics, IMT-CDL Ghaziabad in the august presence of Prof. Alok Pandey, Director IMS, Prof. Tapan Nayak, Dean Academics, Dr. Sachin Malhotra, Dean MCA, Prof. Avadhesh Kumar Gupta, Dean-New Programme Development, faculty members and students.

Dr. Ishan Ranjan had a very interactive session with students in which he emphasized upon the future prospects and career options in Big Data Analytics. Dr. Hemlata envisioned the audience with the understanding of analytics and its applications in the Industry. Mr. Somnath Mitra introduced Machine Learning, Supervised & Unsupervised Learning and the latest tools used in the industry such as Python, R, etc.

Dr Avadhesh Kumar Gupta briefed students about the newly launched 2 year full time PGDM Big Data Analytics programme. Dr Gupta apprised the audience about PGDM – Big Data Analytics Programme at IMS Ghaziabad; its rigorous curriculum and the incredible career options for students.

Special session For PGDM 2nd year HR Specialization Students on ‘‘Training and Development’’ by Mr. Bhupinder Singh Negi from Country Garden (a Chinese fortune 500 enterprise) on January 19, 2019.

IMS Ghaziabad, under the kind patronage of Prof. Ajay K. Jain, Director IMS Ghaziabad, organized a Special session for PGDM 2nd year HR Specialization Students. The special session was delivered on “Training and Development” by Mr. Bhupinder Singh Negi from Country Garden (a Chinese fortune 500 enterprise).

The program started with the gracious presence of Prof. Ajay K. Jain, Director IMS Ghaziabad, Mr. Bhupinder Singh Negi from Country Garden (a Chinese #fortune 500 enterprise) and Dr. Anjali Rai, Assistant Professor HR. In the beginning, Dr. Ajay K. Jain, Director IMS Ghaziabad addressed the students emphasizing on the importance of the training and development for #employee and #organization. The objective of the seminar was to give the exposure and understanding of training and development practices. The theme of the seminar covered #Training Need #Assessment, Designing Training Programmes, Implementing Training and #Development Programmes and Training evaluation.

Mr. Bhupinder Singh Negi imparted knowledge of training and development and its practices to student. It was a highly interactive and learning experience for the students. The session was concluded with vote of thanks extended by Dr. Anjali Rai.

Institute of Management Studies, Ghaziabad organized a seminar on Seminar on ‘StockMind- Importance of Stock Market for Students’, on January 11, 2019 for the students of PGDM. The seminar was conducted by ICICI Direct Center for Financial Learning. The program started with the gracious presence of Dr. Ajay K. Jain, Director IMS Ghaziabad, Ms. Malini Prasad, Zonal Marketing Head – North & East India, ICICI Securities, Mr. Harinder Negi, Zonal Training Manager, ICICI Securities Ltd; Dr. Tapan Kumar Nayak, Dean Academics, Dr. Neeraj Sanghi, Area Chairperson-Finance, Dr. Mayank Kumar, Associate Professor Finance and faculty members of IMS Ghaziabad. In the beginning, director Dr. Ajay K. Jain addressed the students emphasizing on the importance of capital market for investors.

The objective of the seminar was to give the exposure and understanding of stock market
operations to the students. The theme of the seminar covered importance of capital market, equity instruments, career in equity research, trading in equity market. StockMind season 7, the virtual stock market game of ICICI Direct, was introduced to students for participation. Ms. Malini Prasad and Mr. Harinder Negi imparted knowledge of secondary market and its
operations to students. A demo session on virtual game ‘StockMind’ was introduced to students.

The session was concluded with vote of thanks extended by Dr. Neeraj Sanghi.

“Special Seminar ” on “ Emerging Market : Are We”

“Special Seminar ” on “ Emerging Market : Are We” at IMS Ghaziabad, by Guest of Honour- Mr. Shivendra Tomar, Managing Director – IIDL, & ED – ILD, August 3, 2018.
Under the stewardship of Director IMS, Prof. Ajay K. Jain , the “Special seminar Series” was organized . The theme of the current “Special Seminar”, was “Emerging Markets: Are We”. The Special seminar was first for the current session and 25th in a row. The Managing Director of IIFCI Infrastructure Development Ltd. Mr. Shivendra Tomar was the “Guest of Honour”.

In his inaugural lecture, Prof. Ajay K.Jain, Director IMS Ghaziabad, described Mr. Tomar as great “Entrepreneur and Transformational Leader”. In his view, Mr. Tomar, being CEOs of many companies, will be an ideal role model for young managers. For being a successful transformation leader, he emphasized on three aspects- Motivation, Transformation & Change Management.

The Guest of Honour, Mr. Shivendra Tomar, highlighted the existing vast rural population in the country, which amounts to over 90 crores, and has the ‘huge market potential untapped’ so far. He quoted Noble Laureate Prof. Amartya Sen, who talked about ‘social welfare economy’. In India , state like Gujarat has shown tremendous entrepreneurial abilities because of which people in rural India are flourishing. AMUL is a classic success story in this regard. Mr. Tomar exhorted young managers to look for entrepreneurial opportunities in procurement, storage and transportation related infrastructures ie supply chain and cold supply chain management. He was of the firm opinion that if post-harvest losses could be controlled, which are presently to the tune of 40 percent, India can emerge as net exporter in agri-product business. The session was followed by ‘Question & Answer Session’.
