GRAND CONVOCATION OF PGDM @ IMS, GHAZIABAD
The grand Convocation of the PGDM was solemnized at IMS, Ghaziabad in the presence of the dignitaries from the top corporate and the academia. All the eligible students of PGDM batch 2016-18 received their diplomas in-person from the Chief Guest in a grand function. The ecstasy of emerging as a successful manager was obvious on the faces of the zealous diploma recipients.
The ceremony was inaugurated with the lamp lighting before the idol of Goddess Saraswati by the esteemed dignitaries – hon’ble Chief Guest Sh. Hari Om Rai, CMD, Lava International Limited; Keynote Speaker Sh. Raj Nehru, Mission Director-Haryana Skill Development Mission & Vice Chancellor -Shri Vishwakarma Skill University, Haryana; Sh. Sanjay Agarwal, Chairman, IMS Society; Dr. Pramod Agarwal, Managing Trustee, IMS Ghaziabad; Sh. Rakesh Chharia, Treasurer, IMS Society; Sh. Ramesh Chaudhury, General Secretary, IMS Society; Director IMS, Ghaziabad Dr. Anita Singh and Dean Academics Dr. Tapan Kumar Nayak.
The ceremony started with the Video Message of Mr. Suresh Prabhu, hon’ble minister for Commerce, Industry and Civil Aviation (Govt of India) who in his brief address congratulated the diploma recipients on their success and wished everyone all the best for attaining even greater heights in life and profession.
The event got even more special with the benign presence of Sh. Rajiv Srivastava, CHRO, DIMTS; Sh. R S Yadav, Vice President-HR & Admin, India Glycols Limited; Sh. Praveen Gupta, Sr. Director-HR, AECOM India Limited; Sh. Ajay Prasad, Vice President-HR, Unison Insurance Ltd. and Sh Rajnish karki, Sr Consultant, Rajnish Karki & Associates.
During the welcome address, Director IMS, Dr. Anita Singh welcomed all the dignitaries and congratulated all the diploma recipients for being a part of such an important event of their life. She also presented the Annual Report of the Institute mentioning the accolades and achievements of IMS, Ghaziabad and the new initiatives taken like the commencement of a fully fledged Incubation Centre in the campus and the new tie ups with the foreign universities.
The Keynote Speaker Mr. Raj Nehru discussed the importance of the day and inspired the diploma recipients to do their best in life. He shared his own experiences and examples and said that there is no substitute to hard work and sincerity in life. He said that the business in the current scenario demands managers who can handle the challenges, sense the upcoming changes and bring in some quality innovations.
Soon after the Keynote Address, the students received their diplomas and took an oath of making the best use of their education for the welfare of the society. Hon’ble Chief Guest Sh. Hari Om Rai presented the Convocation Address and motivated the recipients with his words of wisdom. He said that the life ahead is full of challenges but if you are sincere and determined, nothing can stop you from reaching the top. He also emphasized on the importance of values and ethics while rising up in life and wished the very best to all the recipients.
The formal Vote of Thanks was presented by the Dean Academics Dr. Tapan Kumar Nayak who was the Master of Ceremony too. The grand convocation concluded with the lavish lunch and the exchange of best wishes among all.

MCA Pre-Orientation Programme at IMS Ghaziabad
IMS Ghaziabad organized an intensive Pre-Orientation Programme for MCA: Batch (2015-2018) & Lateral Entry: Batch (2015-2017) on July 22, 2015. The Theme of the programme was “Corporate Expectations From Young Technocrats”. MCA Programme of IMS Ghaziabad is approved by AICTE and affiliated to UPTU Lucknow.
Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director- IMS Ghaziabad and Dr. Avadhesh Gupta – HOD MCA welcomed the Guests of the day Mr. Ganesh Sahai, Founder, Whiztrain Pvt. Ltd; Mr. Saandiep Jethanni, Co-founder, ATS Learning Solution; Ms. Prerna Sharman, Project Manager, TCS and Ms. Vaani Gandha, Head – HR, Nucleus Software. Dr. Makkar in her address stated that with the technological advancement across the globe, there is huge requirement of Manpower blended with multiple skill set and right attitude.
The broad objective of this orientation programme was to prepare graduate students for a professional career in the software industry and academia by providing an outstanding environment for teaching and research in the core and emerging areas. Renowned Experts from corporate arena and senior alumni focused upon the real depth of Technocrats in terms of knowledge and communication skills. They briefed the fresh batch with the pragmatic practices and technological transformations of the corporate world and its expectations from them in the challenging and changing Global scenario. More than 200 students including Parents and Faculty and Staff Members of the Institute attended the event followed by the lunch.

Advance C Workshop at IMS Ghaziabad in Association with IIT Bombay
IMS Ghaziabad in association with IIT Bombay organized the Spoken Tutorial Training workshop on “Advance C” for BCA students of IMS University Campus to enrich their knowledge on April 24, 2015. This workshop was conducted by Dr. Nripendra Dwivedi and Dr. Sheelesh Sharma under the stewardship of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director IMS Ghaziabad and Dr Avadhesh Gupta Head-MCA.
The tutorial based learning was highly conducive to self-learning. The Spoken Tutorial project is the activity of the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (ICT), launched by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Government of India. All the Students have received participation certificates from IIT Bombay.

In its constant endeavor to disseminate the intellectual knowledge and provide platform for industry and academia to work for the holistic development of the nation; on May 16, 2015 IMS Ghaziabad organized Management Development Programme on “Entrepreneurship: Learning and Implementation”.
Shri Rakesh Chharia, Managing Trustee; Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director, IMS Ghaziabad; Prof.(Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sharma, Ex. Dean, Faculty of Management & DMS, IIT Delhi; Dr. A. K. Singh Suryavanshi – Professor, Department Of Business Management, NIFTEM University and Dr. Sanjeev Mittal – Dean Management Department, GGS IP University, Delhi inaugurated the event and welcomed all the dignitaries from distinguished industry houses.
The MDP was focused on the rise of Entrepreneurial ideas and provided a platform for an open forum where experts shared their views upon learning and implementation of the same. The programme was attended by more than 30 delegates from renowned organizations and academic institutions. MDP concluded with the valedictory session where industry personnel expressed their gratitude towards the institute for organizing such well-versed enterprise full of practical approach. The faculty conveners Dr. Sunayana Jain and Dr. Yogita Sharma presented vote of thanks to the Management and Director for their immeasurable support during the conduct of MDP and making it a grand success.

Its Time for celebrations at IMS Ghaziabad !! All the faculty and staff members gathered on April 22, 2015 to celebrate different accolades being awarded to IMS Ghaziabad such as Best B- School in India – North by Assocham; Shri Rakesh Chharia, Managing Trustee, IMS Ghaziabad has been recognized and felicitated with the Title of SkillTree Education Evangelist of India by SkillTree Knowledge Consortium; Eminent Director of the Leading Institutions bestowed to Dr. Urvashi Makkar by CSR and Best B-School in Placements by CEGR.
Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director congratulated each Faculty and staff member on these achievements and encouraged to strive for pinnacle in forthcoming years. She also expressed her gratitude for the guidance and support of Shri Nitin Agarwal, Chairman and Shri Rakesh Chharia, Managing Trustee, IMS Ghaziabad. She dedicated these accolades to all faculty and staff members and students’ fraternity of IMS Ghaziabad. The celebrations concluded with the cake cutting ceremony to congratulate each and every family member of IMS Ghaziabad.
2-day Workshop on Stress Management by IMS Ghaziabad
As a continuous endeavor for stronger Corporate linkage, IMS Ghaziabad in association with Continental Carbon India Limited organized the 2 Days Workshop on April 23rd 2015 on “Stress Management & Spiritual Enlightenment – The Rising Way”. The 2 day workshop was focused on managing stress at workplace and also helped participants to release negative emotions out of their body and mind. The Inaugural Ceremony was witnessed the benign presence of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director – IMS Ghaziabad; Mr. VK Dubey, MD, Continental Carbon; Mr. Vinay Gupta – Executive Director, GMA; Mr. Mukul Gupta – CEO, Shimuk Enterprises.
The participants (inclusive of employees of Continental Carbon & other member companies of Ghaziabad Management Association) experienced practical comprehensions of the Mudras that can put Stress & Stress Causing Agents at bay. There were more than 23 Mudras learnt by the participants to fight with the day-to-day stress & tensions. The participants took initiatives and participated in all the ice breaking & warm-up exercises, energizers and kinesthetic activities, yoga’s, meditative and breathing exercises.
The chief convener, Ms. Guneet Oberoi, Sr. Manager – Corporate Trainings extended vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the resource speakers of the workshop Mr. VK Bansal & the Brahma Kumaries from the Meditation & Re-treat Centre, Manesar, Gurgaon, along with organization’s delegates of GMA, Continental Carbon & IMS Ghaziabad.
Guest Lecture on “Branding and Promotion” at IMS Ghaziabad
IMS Ghaziabad is putting constant efforts in enriching its students with knowledge and global experience. Taking the legacy forward, IMS Ghaziabad presented a unique opportunity to its PGDM students by arranging a special guest lecture on “Branding and Promotion” by Mr. Hashan Haputhanthri, Head-TVS Motors, Srilanka on April 25, 2015.
Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director IMS Ghaziabad welcomed Mr. Hashan Haputhanthri and encouraged PGDM Students to learn from the rich experience of such international delegate. The Guest Lecture begun with the launch of a book titled “Bransology” authored by Mr Hashan Haputhanthri and inaugurated by Dr. Urvashi Makkar-Director, IMS Ghaziabad.
Mr. Hashan explained the role of Branding and Promotion in business decision making process in a very innovative manner. He emphasized on the practical application of the concepts studied in class by giving relevant examples from his own experiences. He further emphasized that how the dedication and commitment towards work can drive the student from no-where to somewhere in the business life. The students were really overwhelmed by the inputs given by Mr. Hashan on such a significant topic. The session proved to be a real knowledge enhancing session for the students as well as for the faculty members. At the end, Dr. Tapan K Nayak, PGDM Chairperson summarized the session to the students and proposed the Vote of thanks to the guest.
