Chief of Mission, Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco, Renowned Luminaries & Globally Acclaimed Key Note Speakers, Panel Chairs & Members for Two Day International Conference on “Corporate Governance: Retrospect and Prospects”, February 12-13, 2017

IMS Ghaziabad, under the dynamic leadership of Prof. J P Sharma, Director, organized a Two Day, International Conference on “Corporate Governance: Retrospect and Prospects”, (ICCG IMSGZB 2017) on February 12-13, 2017 where a Galaxy of eminent thought-leaders congregated for Stimulating Panel Discussions and Keynote addresses. The International Conference is organized with a mission to bring together global researchers, academicians, policy makers and practitioners on a common platform in corporate governance and allied disciplines like finance and law etc.

The Inaugural Session on Day-1 at Radisson Blu, Kaushambi-Delhi NCR (India) was graced and embellished by the Chief Guest – Shri. Narendra K. Verma, MD & CEO, ONGC Videsh Limited, Principal Guests – His Excellency, Sh. Nejmeddine Lakhal, Ambassador of Tunisia, Mr. Hassane, Minister and Dy. Chief of Mission, Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco, Key Note Speaker: Prof. Stuart Locke, Professor of Finance, Formerly Chairperson-Department of Finance, University of Waikato, Management School, New Zealand along with Dr Pramod Agarwal ji, Patron & Managing Trustee, IMS Ghaziabad, Sh. Sanjay Agarwal ji, Chairman IMS Society, Sh. Rakesh Chharia ji, General Secretary IMS Society, Dr. Sraban Mukherjee, Director IMSEC and Dr. Sapna Rakesh, Director IMSUC. During his welcome address, Prof. J.P Sharma, Director IMS Ghaziabad, Lal Kuan Campus welcomed all the guests and highlighted upon the importance of corporate governance and CSR in all businesses.

Globally renowned academicians, authorities on Corporate Governance & keynote speakers for Day 2 – Prof. Till Talaulicar, Chairman, International Corporate Governance Society, Chair of Organization & Management, University of Erfurt, Formerly of Economics, Law and Social Sciences, Germany, Dr. Shann Turnbull, Principal, International Institute for Self-governance, Prolific Author, Serial Entrepreneur & Co-Founder of the Sustainable Money Working Group & the New Garden Cities Alliance, Australia also graced the session.

Renowned experts from academia and industry across the Globe graced the Panel discussion on a theme of “Corporate Governance- where are we going” in the Pre-Lunch session. Dr. M S Sahoo, Chairman – Insolvency & Bankruptcy Board of India & Former CEO – ICSI (Institute of Company Secretaries of India), chaired the discussion with the panel members – Mr. Nessar Ahmad, Former President, The Institute of Company Secretaries of India, Shri. L.V. V. Iyar, Renowned Author & Partner, LVV Iyer & Associates, Hyderabad, Dr. Achintan Bhattacharya, Director, NIBM, Pune, Prof. R.K. Mishra, Director, Institute of Public Enterprises, Hyderabad.

Post Lunch Panel discussion was chaired by Shri. Bhaskar Chatterjee, IAS, Former Director General & CEO, Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) & Former Secretary, Govt. of India, along with panel members – Prof. Rattan Sharma, Former Professor IIM, MDI, SP Jain IMR, Dr. H. Chaturvedi, Director, BIMTECH, Dr. S.P. Narang, Member, Board of Governors-MDI Former Secretary & CEO, ICSI, Shri. Pawan Kumar, IRS Commissioner Income Tax, Former Director, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, on highly demanding theme of “Integrating CSR into the Mainstream Business”.

Dr. S.K Dube, Convener introduced the conference to all and Dr. Pankaj K Agarwal, Co-Convener, proposed the Vote of Thanks.

500 Participants, including more than 250 Delegates, representing 4 continents – Asia, Australia, Europe and Africa of the world attended the Day-1 of International Conference on “Corporate Governance: Retrospect and Prospects” organized by IMS Ghaziabad, Lal Kuan Campus.

Guest Lecture on “Branding and Promotion” at IMS Ghaziabad

IMS Ghaziabad is putting constant efforts in enriching its students with knowledge and global experience. Taking the legacy forward, IMS Ghaziabad presented a unique opportunity to its PGDM students by arranging a special guest lecture on “Branding and Promotion” by Mr. Hashan Haputhanthri, Head-TVS Motors, Srilanka on April 25, 2015.

Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director IMS Ghaziabad welcomed Mr. Hashan Haputhanthri and encouraged PGDM Students to learn from the rich experience of such international delegate. The Guest Lecture begun with the launch of a book titled “Bransology” authored by Mr Hashan Haputhanthri and inaugurated by Dr. Urvashi Makkar-Director, IMS Ghaziabad.

Mr. Hashan explained the role of Branding and Promotion in business decision making process in a very innovative manner. He emphasized on the practical application of the concepts studied in class by giving relevant examples from his own experiences. He further emphasized that how the dedication and commitment towards work can drive the student from no-where to somewhere in the business life. The students were really overwhelmed by the inputs given by Mr. Hashan on such a significant topic. The session proved to be a real knowledge enhancing session for the students as well as for the faculty members. At the end, Dr. Tapan K Nayak, PGDM Chairperson summarized the session to the students and proposed the Vote of thanks to the guest.

Best B-School in Placements – 2015 Award to IMS Ghaziabad

IMS Ghaziabad has been conferred with “Best B-School in Placements – 2015 Award” by Centre for Education Growth and Research (CEGR). On April 24, 2015 at magnificent award ceremony held at India International Centre-New Delhi,Ms. Meenakshi Lekhi, Senior BJP Leader and Honorable Member of Parliament presented the award to Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director, IMS Ghaziabad.

On the same day, A book entitled “Entrepreneurship: Learning and Implementation”was unveiled by Ms. Meenakshi Lekhi. This book is a joint initiative of CEGR & IMS, Ghaziabad. The book has been co-authored by Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director IMS Ghaziabad with Mr. Praveen Sinha, CMD, httpa//Jabong.com/:::Jabong.com and Dr. KirtiDutta as editorial board members. The book is aimed at providing the right direction to entrepreneurial thoughts and bridging the gap between the theoretical concept and practical applicability of entrepreneurship decisions.

On the same day, During the second National Seminar on “Higher Education: What India Needs?”,Dr. Makkar participated as a distinguished panelist and extended her views on the theme. She stated that without quality and focused research in Higher Education,India will not be able to sustain the global challenges. She highlighted the urgent need of talented students and qualified faculty members/trainers to raise the level of higher education in India. The Seminar witnessed Academicians, Research Scholars and Corporates from various reputed institutes and corporate houses.
