Guest Lecture on “Branding and Promotion” at IMS Ghaziabad
IMS Ghaziabad is putting constant efforts in enriching its students with knowledge and global experience. Taking the legacy forward, IMS Ghaziabad presented a unique opportunity to its PGDM students by arranging a special guest lecture on “Branding and Promotion” by Mr. Hashan Haputhanthri, Head-TVS Motors, Srilanka on April 25, 2015.
Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director IMS Ghaziabad welcomed Mr. Hashan Haputhanthri and encouraged PGDM Students to learn from the rich experience of such international delegate. The Guest Lecture begun with the launch of a book titled “Bransology” authored by Mr Hashan Haputhanthri and inaugurated by Dr. Urvashi Makkar-Director, IMS Ghaziabad.
Mr. Hashan explained the role of Branding and Promotion in business decision making process in a very innovative manner. He emphasized on the practical application of the concepts studied in class by giving relevant examples from his own experiences. He further emphasized that how the dedication and commitment towards work can drive the student from no-where to somewhere in the business life. The students were really overwhelmed by the inputs given by Mr. Hashan on such a significant topic. The session proved to be a real knowledge enhancing session for the students as well as for the faculty members. At the end, Dr. Tapan K Nayak, PGDM Chairperson summarized the session to the students and proposed the Vote of thanks to the guest.

IMS Ghaziabad with the motive to provide 360 degree informative platform to its PGDM students organized a guest lecture on “Hoover Dam Project of USA”. Under the constant motivation and dynamic leadership of Director Dr. Urvashi Makkar, IMS Ghaziabad strives to provideintellectual exposure on international issues by the experts itself. Dr. Sarvesh Swarup, Formerly Deputy Director General, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Govt. of Indiashared the details about the engineering marvel – Hoover Dam Project of USA.
Dr. Swarup informed that the dam’s name refers to President Herbert Hoover. It was the most expensive engineering project in U.S. history at the time of its construction and was built for several purposes, controlling floods and silt as well as irrigation. Management students learned about the about the challenges faced by the team of engineers while constructing the giant water reservoir. The lecture ends with the intriguing discussions amongst Dr. Swarup and PGDM students.
MDP on “Finance for Non-Finance Executives”at IMS Ghaziabad
In our constant endeavor to take, the institute to the heights of academic excellence, IMS Ghaziabad in association with Noida Management Association (NMA) and Ghaziabad Management Association(GMA) organized MDP on “Finance for Non-Finance Executives” on Saturday, April 18, 2015.
Today managerial roles are increasingly getting cross- functional and interdependent. This MDP introduces essential financial management techniques for effective decision-making and provides a sound understanding of corporate finance to managers across all functional domains. It equips professionals with a comprehensive working knowledge of financial principles and a strong foundation in financial management analysis.
Highly renowned and reputed dignitaries from various corporate Houses and Management Associations were part of the inaugural session in the programme. Mr. Dinesh Jain, Joint President, Group-HR, Uflex Ltd. & President Noida Management Association was the chief guest, delivered the presidential address, Mr. V.K. Jayaswal, Executive Director, Shriram Pistons & Rings Ltd. was the guest of honor and delivered the keynote address, CA Anil Agarwal CEO – Anil Kumar & Associates addressed the delegates about the importance of finance in all functional domains. Mr Vinay Gupta, Executive Director, Ghaziabad Management Association Mr. Sudhir Mohan Mittal, MD – SukritiVidyut Udyog Ltd. and Mr. Babu Khan , CEO at Aura Green Technologies, Ghaziabad (Renewables & Environment) Formally, GM at Central Electronics Ltd. (A Govt. of India Enterprises) were the distinguished guest. Mr. Ratnesh Kumar, AGM Finance, NTPC Ltd. and Dr. Ambika Prasad Dash, Senior Professor-Finance & Strategy, PMI, NOIDA, were the expert speakers in technical sessions.

At a dazzling CSR Awards Ceremonyat Hotel Le Meridien, New Delhi on April 19, 2015, Mr.S. K. Sachdeva, Chairman & Editor – CSRpresented the accolade to the director. Dr. Makkar in her enthusiastic address expressed her gratitude towards the team of CSR for acknowledging her contribution. She also stated that this achievement will surely make her more passionate to work in depth for the upliftment of higher education in the country and to contribute profoundly in the field of improving the quality in Education, Innovation and Research development. Adding one more accolade in its silver jubilee year, IMS Ghaziabad has been awarded as Best B-School in India- North by ASSOCHAM on April 18, 2015. On the occasion of 8th ASSOCHAM Education Summit followed by National Education Excellence Awards, ASSOCHAM awarded IMS Ghaziabad for its significant contribution in the field of improving the quality in Education, Innovation and Research development.
Shri Rakesh Chharia, Managing Trustee and Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director, was felicitated by the Hon’ble Minister of MHRD Prof. (Dr.) Ram Shankar Katheria Ji at glittering award ceremony at Hotel Taj Mahal, New Delhi. Dr. Makkar in her address shared the recent achievements of IMS Ghaziabad and expressed her gratitude towards the managing team of ASSOCHAM for recognizing the constant efforts of IMS Ghaziabad in creating a better future of India.
Dr. Makkar was also part of the technical session as a distinguished panelist where the theme was “Education is key to ‘Make in India’ a Success”. She throws light on the domains of Research Ethics, Quality & Standard of Research and Threats & Opportunities. She also shared that the bringing excellence in research is the only tool to achieve quality research and subsequently it would acts as a catalyst in attaining “Make in India” a success.

Book entitled “Entrepreneurship: Learning and Implementation” : A Joint Initiative of CEGR & IMS, Ghaziabad.
We are pleased to share that we have collaborated with Centre for Education Growth and Research (CEGR) for a certification course on Entrepreneurship, in which IMS Ghaziabad is a knowledge partner for the same. A book entitled “Entrepreneurship: Learning and Implementation” is being authored on Entrepreneurship in association with IMS Ghaziabad & CEGR. The book is a Joint Initiative of CEGR & IMS, Ghaziabad. The book is unique in the sense that it is a culmination of ideas, in the form of various chapters, contributed not only by the academicians, researchers but also by the senior corporate professionals and highly established entrepreneurs. The book is aimed at providing the right direction to entrepreneurial thoughts and bridging the gap between the theoretical concept and practical applicability of entrepreneurship decisions.
Books Exhibition at IMS Ghaziabad
IMS Ghaziabad organized ‘Books Exhibition’ on Thursday April 9, 2015. Keeping in mind the theme “Books are your best friends” the institute organized this exhibition with an aim to offer a unique opportunity for the intellectual capital.
Managing Trustee, Shri Rakesh Charria and Director, Dr. Urvashi Makkar inaugurated the exhibition with a motivating message that “there is no learning without books”. In the exhibition, 22 reputed publishers like PHI India, Cengage Learning Pvt Ltd, New Age International, Penguin India, Pearson Education, Viva Group, Himalaya Publishing House, Taxman Publications, Vikas Publishing House, S Chand & Company, Ane Books Pvt Ltd. etc. displayed their bestsellers and inspire the readers.
The faculty members, research scholars and students explored the renowned publishers in the areas of Management, I.T. and General Reading under one roof and get an opportunity to witness wide range of titles displayed in the exhibition. The exhibition witnessed more than 250 academicians and research scholars from delhi/ncr.
2nd Mock Interview session at IMS Ghaziabad
Alumni are the foundation of an Institute, who are leader and pioneer in the corporate industry and acts as a torchbearer for their upcoming generation. In order to polish the PGDM Students, 2nd Mock Interview session has been planned where alumni interviewed the current batch and guided them by sharing open feedback.
IMS Ghaziabad once again invited their eminent talented alumni Ms. Vijayalaxmi Saxena and Mr. Ankit Goel from PGDM 2008-10 Batchto share their successful journey via interviewing the current PGDM students. They suggested Do’s and Don’tsof interview skills and highlighted the importance of right gesture and body language. They advised the current batch to be clear about the vision of life and clarity on career goals. It was a completely informative and practical learning experience for current batch to be trained by their own seniors. The session successfully concluded with a dual benefit of getting reconnected with the alumni and training the tricks of the trade to the present students.
“Management Education : Boon or Bane” – Inter College Debate Competition at IMS Ghaziabad
“Institute of Management Studies, Ghaziabad” is organizing an “Inter College Debate Competition” on April 20, 2015, 11 am onwards for Undergraduate Students with the theme: “Management Education : Boon or Bane”. The objective of the competition is to enhance the intellectual and competitive spirit among students.

Corporate Exposure– 3 DAY GROWTH NET SUMMIT
Under the umbrella of Corporate Interface series, IMS Ghaziabad provided an exuberant opportunityto its PGDM First year students to be a part of 3 day International Growth Net Summit. The Summit was a joint initiative of Ananta Center &Smadja&Smadjaheld at Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi.
This summit witnessed sixty prominent and influential speakers from seventeen countries.Few of these key personalities were :

The three day International level of exposure acted as an important tool in grooming the fresh blood. Also, It was be a matter of pride to listen the views and an opportunity to interact with such eminent dignitaries of National and International repute.
