“Connected Devices…Connected World…” ASSOCHAM SUMMIT attended by IMS MCA Students, February 16, 2018 at The Claridges, New Delhi

MCA Students got the splendid opportunity to participate in ASSOCHAM SUMMIT – “Connected Devices…Connected World…” on 16th February, 2018 @ The Claridges, New Delhi. The key objective of the Summit was to discuss Machine to Machine communications (M2M), Connected Mobility, Healthcare & Medical Devices, Smart Homes and Smart Cities. The Summit witnessed the senior executives from top I.T Organizations like Oracle, CSI India, ERNET, SENSEnuts and more. Students also got the opportunity to ask questions from the experts, and they enthusiastically participated in the Summit.

Under the stewardship of Prof. J.P. Sharma Director IMS Ghaziabad, keeping the motto of excellence mantra, the HR department of IMS Ghaziabad organized “HR Panel Discussion” for PGDM 1st year and 2nd year students on Saturday, September 16, 2017.

The presence of HR Stalwarts from academia and corporate- like globally renowned Dr. Debi Singh Saini , Ex Professor, MDI Gurgaon, Ms. Arpita Kuila, Head HR, NEC India, Mr. Bharat Singh, Director – Global Services, Tata Consultancy Services Limited, and Ms. Niharika Misra, AGM- HR, Orchid Corporate Services (I) Pvt. Ltd., made a strong panel for discussion.

The session began with the inaugural remark by the transformational leader, Prof. J.P. Sharma, Director IMS Ghaziabad, where he underlined the importance of HR functions which acted like a lubricant in any organization for keeping its employees moving. During the Session Dr. Saini shared his thoughts about strategic importance of HR, employee engagement and producing intangible results as role of HR. Ms. Arpita drew attention on the digitalization and changing role of HR professionals in an organization. She also put emphasis on understanding business before entering into HR profile. In his presentation, Mr. Bharat Singh from TCS, exhorted a successful HR professional of next generation must have 3M’s, such as Multifunctional, multilevel of handling people and multi geographical work experience. The AGM-HR of Orchid Corporate Services, Ms. Niharika highlighted the need of serious efforts by students during their summer internship projects. She made a fervent appeal to students to take decisions in haste which can mar their career.

The panel discussion was moderated by Dr. Saini and other panel members including Dr. Tapan Kumar Nayak, PGDM Programme Chairperson, answered the questions raised by the students. The students were quite enthusiastic. It was an enriching experience for the audience and the session was concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Lata Bajpai Singh, Area Chairperson – HR.

The Operations Club- “AAYAM” organized “Business Haat 2017” in order to promote entrepreneurial skills among the participating students. Out of 75 teams registered only 40 teams were allowed after screening. There were five prominent segments in the Business Haat– Fun Games, Food stalls, Retailing, Photography, Music and others.

Prof. J. P. Sharma, Director IMS Ghaziabad inaugurated the “Business Haat 2017” on August 24, 2017 in the presence of PGDM Programme Chairperson, Dr.Tapan Kumar Nayak, and Area Chairperson-Operations Dr. Sunayana Jain, besides faculty and students. In his inaugural address, Prof. Sharma, emphasized on entrepreneurial skills among students.

Jury members announced the prizes for the winners. Three awards in the category of popular Choice , Jury Award winner and Jury Award Runner, were given. The winners of Business Haat 2017 for Popular Choice Award were “Stall name: Kheech Mere Photo” with the team members –
